COMPULSORY EDUCATION BOOK LIST

 

The following is a list of books which cover the subject of Forced, Compulsory, Government ĎEducationí. (ie. "Public Schooling")

Because of their controversial nature, these books are very difficult to find. Most bookstores in the United States do not carry them, yet they represent some of the best information available on the topics covered.

The list is divided up into subject headings: Curriculum, Illiteracy, etc. All the books have been read by the reviewer and evaluated according to how well they covered the subjects presented.

Of course, as with all written material, we may not necessarily agree with everything that an author presents, however, we heartily recommend every book on the list, keeping in mind that the reader must use discernment wherever undocumented opinion may occur.

In fairness to the Authors it should be noted that every book listed is worthwhile reading. But we are compelled to evaluate them so that a reader who may not have the time or inclination to read them all, might at least choose intelligently on a subject or topic of interest.

First published in 1953, a most thoroughly documented book on what took place in the Educational Establishment and the Schools in the 1930ís, 1940ís, and the early 1950ís. Difficult reading, because of the "heavy" documentation, but absolutely chock full of facts and figures concerning the aims and the goals of the Educational "ELITE". Also a section on the aims of UNESCO - One World Government - etc.

IS PUBLIC EDUCATION NECESSARY? ............................... * * * * *

A short history of "Compulsory Education" in the United States. From itís beginnings in the Reformation (Luther & Calvin); to the Puritans who settled New England; and on to the Unitarians; Educators; Socialists; and the so-called "Conservative Christians" - All of whom have embraced , at one time or another, "Compulsory Education" for their own self-serving ends. This book covers from the Reformation to 1845 - the beginning of "Compulsory Education" in the United States.
(A superb book, helps the reader to understand how a "Christian Idea" can be perverted by the secular world, and then used against Christians!)

A thoroughly documented expose of the National Education Association, itís beginnings, history, goals, and methods. Covers from 1845 - early 1980ís. Should be read after Blumenfeldís "Is Public Education Necessary?"

First published in 1886 - An absolutely fantastic book on "Compulsory Government Schooling", 100 years ahead of itís time! A complete treatise against all forms of government "Compulsory" education, and the almost prophetic prediction of disaster and failure to come if allowed to continue. (Strange Title; kind of slow going to start with; factual and well documented; fascinating and informative reading.)

("Intellectual" reading, but has many good points.)
