Balance In The Christian's
Life
(ROOTED - GROUNDED - STABLISHED - SETTLED)
FAITH & LOVE:
The 2 Essential Ingredients
Col 1:23 If ye continue in the faith
grounded and settled,
and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard,
and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof
I Paul am made a minister;
Col 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye
in him: 7 Rooted and built
up in him, and stablished in the faith,
as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Eph 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being
rooted and grounded
in love,
FAITH: Importance of Believing
Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance
of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible
to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that
he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Ro 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing,
and hearing by the word of God.
Ro 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith
to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Ro 3:21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested,
being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith
of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no
difference:
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in
Christ Jesus:
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood,
to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through
the forbearance of God;
26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be
just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay:
but by the law of faith.
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith
without the deeds of the law. Ro 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth
on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith
is counted for righteousness.
Ro 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Ga 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law,
but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ,
that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works
of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Ga 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it
is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
Ga 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
FAITH: Importance of Believing in and
Knowing Sound Doctrine
Mt 7:28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings,
the people were astonished at his doctrine:
Mt 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines
the commandments of men.
Mt 16:12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven
of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees
and of the Sadducees..
Mr 1:22 And they were astonished at his doctrine:
for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.
Mr 11:18 And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they
might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished
at his doctrine.
Mr 12:38 And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes,
which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,
Lu 4:32 And they were astonished at his doctrine:
for his word was with power.
Joh 7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine
is not mine, but his that sent me.
Joh 7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine,
whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
Ac 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine
and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Ac 5:28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach
in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine,
and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.
Ac 17:19 And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May
we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou
speakest, is?
Ro 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye
have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine
which was delivered you.
Ro 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and
offences contrary to the doctrine which ye
have learned; and avoid them.
1Co 14:26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
Col 2:20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the
world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and
doctrines of men?
1Ti 1:3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into
Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
1Ti 1:10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind,
for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other
thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some
shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines
of devils;
1Ti 4:6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt
be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith
and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast
attained.
1Ti 4:13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
1Ti 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine;
continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them
that hear thee.
1Ti 5:17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour,
especially they who labour in the word and
doctrine.
1Ti 6:1 Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters
worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine
be not blasphemed.
2Ti 3:10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine,
manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable
for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,
for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove,
rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound
doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves
teachers, having itching ears;
Tit 1:9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he
may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort
and to convince the gainsayers.
Tit 2:1 But speak thou the things which become sound
doctrine:
Tit 2:7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine
shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
Tit 2:10 Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn
the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
Heb 13:9 Be not carried about with divers and strange
doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established
with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been
occupied therein.
2Jo 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ,
hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of
Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
2Jo 1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine,
receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
Re 2:14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them
that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught
Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things
sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
Re 2:15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine
of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.
FAITH & LOVE:
In Operation
Ga 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth
any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which
worketh by love.
Col 1:4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ
Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all
the saints,
1Th 1:3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith,
and labour of love, and patience of hope in
our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;
1Th 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate
of faith and love;
and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
2Ti 1:13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me,
in faith and love which
is in Christ Jesus. ¨

through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of
the brethren, see that ye love one
another with a pure heart fervently:

in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and
in truth.

A NEW COMMANDMENT: "Love
One Another"
Joh 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love
one another; as I have loved you, that ye
also love one another. 35 By this shall all
men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love
one to another.
Joh 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love
one another, . as I have loved you
Joh 15:17 These things I command you, that ye love
one another.

another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled
the law.
9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt
not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and
if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying,
namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love
is the fulfilling of the law.
2Co 2:8 Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love
toward him.
2Co 5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth
us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
2Co 6:6 By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the
Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,
2Co 8:7 Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance,
and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love
to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.
8 I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others,
and to prove the sincerity of your love.
2Co 8:24 Wherefore shew ye to them, and before the churches, the proof
of your love, and of our boasting on
your behalf.
Ga 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing,
nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh
by love.
Ga 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty
for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve
one another.
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love
thy neighbour as thyself.
Ga 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love,
joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Eph 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation
of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Eph 1:15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus,
and love unto all the saints,
Eph 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being
rooted and grounded
in love,
Eph 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that
ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
Eph 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing
one another in love;
Eph 4:15 But speaking the truth in love,
may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that
which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the
measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of
itself in love.
Eph 4:25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour:
for we are members one of another.
Eph 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil
speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

for it;

faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus
Christ.
24 Grace be with all them that love our Lord
Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen
Php 1:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more
in knowledge and in all judgment;
Php 1:12 But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which
happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;
13 So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all
other places;
14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds,
are much more bold to speak the word without fear. 15 Some indeed preach
Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add
affliction to my bonds:
17 But the other of love, knowing that I am
set for the defence of the gospel.
Php 2:2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same
love, being of one accord, of one mind.
Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things
are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever
things are lovely, whatsoever things are of
good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think
on these things.

which ye have to all the saints,
Col 1:8 Who also declared unto us your love in
the Spirit.

bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a
quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
Col 3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and be
not bitter against them.
1Th 1:3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of
love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus
Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;
1Th 2:7 But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:
8 So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted
unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye
were dear unto us.
1Th 3:12 And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love
one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:
1Th 4:9 But as touching brotherly love ye
need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to
love one another.
1Th 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate
of faith and love;
and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
1Th 5:12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among

in faith and love which
is in Christ Jesus.

good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
Tit 2:4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love
their husbands, to love their children,
Phm 1:5 Hearing of thy love and faith,
which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;
1:6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging
of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
7 For we have great joy and consolation in thy love,
because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.
8 Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that
which is convenient,
9 Yet for love's sake I rather beseech thee,
being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
CHARITY: Unselfish Love - It's Importance
1Co 8:1 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know
that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity
edifieth.
Col 3:14 And above all these things put on charity,
which is the bond of perfectness.
1Ti 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity
out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
1Pe 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity
among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
SCRIPTURAL EXAMPLES OF: Charity
1Co 8:1 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know
that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity
edifieth.
1Co 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have
not charity, I am become as sounding brass,
or a tinkling cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries,
and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove
mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give
my body to be burned, and have not charity,
it profiteth me nothing.
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity
envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself,
is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked,
thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth
all things.
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there
be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease;
whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall
be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought
as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I
know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these
three; but the greatest of these is charity.
1Co 14:1 Follow after charity, and desire
spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
1Co 16:14 Let all your things be done with charity.
Col 3:14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
1Th 3:6 But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:
2Th 1:3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is
meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity
of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience
and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may
be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
1Ti 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is
charity out of a pure heart, and of a good
conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
1Ti 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers,
in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit,
in faith, in purity.
2Ti 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith,
charity, peace, with them that call on the
Lord out of a pure heart.
2Ti 3:10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose,
faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
Tit 2:2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
1Pe 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity
among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
SCRIPTURAL PURPOSE: BALANCE
IN THE CHRISTIAN'S LIFE
Ac 20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word
of his grace, which is able to build you
up, and to give you an inheritance
among all them which are sanctified.
1Co 3:9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
Eph 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers
and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the
saints, and of the household of
God;
20 And are built upon the foundation
of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner
stone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together
groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22 In whom ye also are builded
together for an habitation of
God through the Spirit.
1Pe 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
