THE THINGS THAT GOD “HATES”
THE THINGS THAT GOD HATES
The
God of Scripture is UNCHANGEABLE - His Attributes (His Substance
& His Faculties) and His Character can NOT CHANGE!
Malachi
3:5 And I will come
near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers,
and against those that oppress
the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside
the stranger from his right, and fear
not me, saith the LORD of hosts.
6 For I am the
LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not
consumed.
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the
same yesterday, and to day, and for
ever.
9 Be not carried
about with divers
and strange doctrines. For it is a good
thing that the heart be established with grace; not
with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.
The “God
is (only) love” crowd will not
accept the Scriptural fact that the “God of love” can also HATE some
things! But the Unchanging God of Scripture is recorded as “hating”
certain things.
Deuteronomy
Deuteronomy
Psalms
45:6
Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a
right sceptre.
Psalms 45:7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath
anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. {God hates “wickedness”.}
Malachi
Psalms 11:5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that
loveth violence his soul hateth. {God hates “the wicked” &
“him that loveth violence”}
Proverbs 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18
An heart that deviseth wicked
imaginations, feet
that be swift in running to mischief,
19
A false witness that speaketh
lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Proverbs
Isaiah 61:8 For I the
LORD love judgment, I hate
robbery for burnt offering; and I will
direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them. {God hates “robbery for burnt offering” i.e.
when an “offering” is made to him
from someone else’s wages or property - other than the one making the offering!
[2 Samuel 20:21-25] 2 Samuel 24:24 And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a
price: neither will I offer burnt
offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing.
So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen
for fifty shekels of silver. }
Amos
Zechariah
Jeremiah 44:3 Because of their wickedness which
they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense,
and to serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, ye,
nor your fathers.
4 Howbeit I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and
sending them, saying, Oh, do not
this abominable thing that I hate. {God hates IDOLATRY
– i.e. “this abominable thing”.}
Hebrews 1:9 Thou
hast loved righteousness, and hated
iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with
the oil of gladness above thy fellows. {God hates “iniquity”}
Malachi 1:1 The burden of the word of the LORD to
2 I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein
hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? saith
the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,
Malachi 1:3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage
waste for the dragons of the wilderness.
Romans
{God hated Esau – Did God just “hate”
Esau for NO reason at all? “Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.” Did not God know beforehand - that Esau (even
before he was born) would someday (in his heart)
count (i.e. value) the holy promises of God as worth no more
than a simple “meal”; and that he (Esau) would ultimately (in his heart) “despise his birthright”?
[Genesis 25:31-34] The lesson to be learned
[Romans 15:4] is that no one should take the
promises of God “lightly”, or worse yet – consider them to be of little or no worth!}
Revelation 2:6 But this thou hast, that thou
hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I
also hate.
Revelation
THE THINGS THAT GOD’S PEOPLE ARE TO HATE

97:10 Ye that love the LORD, hate evil:
he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of
the wicked.
Psalms
101:3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn
aside; it shall not cleave to me.
Psalms 119:104 Through thy
precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false
way.
Psalms
119:113 SAMECH. I hate
vain thoughts: but thy law do I love.
Psalms 119:128 Therefore I esteem all thy precepts
concerning all things to be right; and I hate
every false way.
Psalms 119:163 I hate
and abhor lying: but thy law do I
love.
Proverbs
Amos 5:15 Hate the evil,
and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that
the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
2 Chronicles 19:2 And Jehu
the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and
said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help
the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD?
therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD.
A FEW MORE THINGS THAT GOD HATES
Jeremiah 10:1 Hear ye the word
which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of
2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn
not the way of the heathen, and
be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. {We are NOT to “learn” (or practice) “the
way of the heathen”.}
3 For
the customs of the
people are vain:
for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman,
with the axe. {We are NOT to practice
“the customs of the people”, for they are “vain”.}
4
They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid
of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
6 Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and
thy name is great in might.
7 Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for
to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations,
and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.
Jeremiah 10:8 But they are
altogether brutish and
foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities.
{We are NOT to “learn” (or practice)
“the way of the heathen” or “the customs of the people”: for “they are altogether
brutish and foolish” and their “doctrines” are vain.}
9
Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish,
and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of
the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the
work of cunning men.
Jeremiah
11 Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that
have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth,
and from under these heavens.
12
He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his
wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.
13
When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of
waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to
ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings
with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
Jeremiah
15
They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they
shall perish.
Revelation 2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things
against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel,
which calleth herself a prophetess,
to teach and to seduce my
servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. {Study wicked Jezebel
in the Old Testament to learn who & what we must avoid now - a controlling
woman with no fear of God, nor regard
for God’s servants.}
21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented
not.
2 Peter 2:15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are
gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; {Study Balaam
in the Old Testament to learn who & what to avoid now: a “man of God” who “serves” for mammon - i.e. MONEY!}
Jude
Revelation 2:14 But I have a few things against thee,
because thou hast there them that hold the
doctrine of Balaam,
who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock
before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to
commit fornication. {Study Balaam in the Old Testament to
learn who & what to avoid
now: a “man of God” who teaches God’s people ways to “get around” God’s Holy words!}
If some
people wonder WHY I am sometimes “hard” on troublemakers; naysayers; gainsayers;
false teachers; and hereticks;
perhaps the preceding verses may help them understand where I am coming from.
