In Regards to: OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

[Deuteronomy 5:29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!]

OUR HEARTS SHOULD BE ASSURED BECAUSE OF HIS TRUTH

1John 3:19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

WE SHOULD BELIEVE IN GOD IN OUR HEART

John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

Acts 8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

OUR HEART SHOULD BE BROKEN BEFORE GOD

Psalms 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Psalms 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Psalms 69:20 Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.

Psalms 147:3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

Jeremiah 23:9 Mine heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath overcome, because of the LORD, and because of the words of his holiness.

WE SHOULD HAVE A CIRCUMCISED HEART

Deuteronomy 10:16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

Deuteronomy 30:6 And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

Jeremiah 4:4 Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

Romans 2:29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

WE SHOULD HAVE A CONTRITE HEART

Psalms 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

WE SHOULD DO GOD’S WILL FROM OUR HEART

Ephesians 6:6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

Christ SHOULD DWELL IN OUR HEARTS

Ephesians 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

WE SHOULD ENGAGE OUR HEART TO APPROACH GOD

Jeremiah 30:21 And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me? saith the LORD.

OUR HEART SHOULD BE FAITHFUL

Nehemiah 9:8 And foundest his heart faithful before thee, and madest a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Jebusites, and the Girgashites, to give it, I say, to his seed, and hast performed thy words; for thou art righteous:

WE SHOULD FEAR GOD WITH OUR HEART

OUR HEART SHOULD BE FIXED ON GOD (Trusting in the LORD)

Psalms 112:7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

WE SHOULD FOLLOW AFTER GOD WITH ALL OUR HEART

1Kings 14:8 And rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee: and yet thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in mine eyes;

WE SHOULD:

INTREAT GOD FOR HIS FAVOR WITH OUR WHOLE HEART

Psalms 119:58 I intreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word.

WE SHOULD:

KEEP GOD’S COMANDMENTS, TESTIMONIES & STATUTES

OUR HEARTS SHOULD BE LIFTED UP UNTO GOD

Lamentations 3:41 Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.

OUR HEARTS SHOULD BE LIFTED UP IN GOD’S WAYS

2Chronicles 17:6 And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.

WE SHOULD LOVE GOD WITH ALL OUR HEART

Deuteronomy 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. . (Deuteronomy 10:12; 11:13; 13:3)

Joshua 22:5 But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

OUR HEART SHOULD BE OBEDIENT TO GOD’S VOICE

WE SHOULD OBSERVE GOD’S LAW WITH OUR WHOLE HEART

WE SHOULD POUR OUT OUR HEART BEFORE GOD

WE SHOULD PREPARE OUR HEARTS UNTO THE LORD GOD

WE SHOULD PREPARE OUR HEARTS TO SEEK GOD’S LAW

Ezra 7:10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.

WE SHOULD:

PURPOSE IN OUR HEARTS TO CLEAVE UNTO THE LORD

Acts 11:23 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.

WE SHOULD REJOICE IN THE LORD GOD

1Samuel 2:1 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.

1Chronicles 16:10 Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.

Psalms 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

GOD’S PEACE SHOULD RULE IN OUR HEARTS

WE SHOULD TRUST IN THE LORD GOD

Psalms 13:5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

OUR HEARTS SHOULD TURN UNTO THE LORD GOD

Deuteronomy 30:10 If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.

2Kings 23:25 And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the LORD with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him.

WE SHOULD WALK BEFORE THE LORD IN TRUTH

1Kings 2:4 That the LORD may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.

1Kings 3:6 And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

2Kings 20:3 I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.

WE SHOULD HAVE GOD’S WORD IN OUR HEARTS

Deuteronomy 6:6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

Deuteronomy 30:14 But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

Jeremiah 20:9 Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

WE SHOULD HIDE GOD’S WORD IN OUR HEART

Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

OUR HEARTS SHOULD BE INCLINED UNTO GOD’S WORD

Psalms 119:36 Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.

Psalms 119:112 I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end.

WE SHOULD:

WE SHOULD MEDITATE ON GOD’S WORDS

Psalms 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Psalms 49:3 My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.

WE SHOULD OBEY GOD’S DOCTRINE FROM OUR HEART

Psalms 119:111 Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.
